Fluke TPT recall

Fluke Corporation has identified a safety issue affecting certain Fluke T110, T130, and T150 Two-Pole Voltage Testers ("T-Pole Testers"). As a precautionary measure, Fluke has decided to voluntarily recall all of these products and provide affected customers with new and improved equivalent replacement products.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this might cause you, and hope you'll understand that customer safety is our utmost priority.

The following T-Pole Testers are being voluntarily recalled ("Recalled Testers"):

The Fluke T90 is NOT impacted by this recall. In addition, all T110, T130, and T150 T-Pole Testers shipped from Fluke after August 28th, 2018 and with serial numbers greater than those specified in the last column above are NOT impacted by this recall.

Please IMMEDIATELY STOP using your T-Pole Tester and follow the recall instructions below.

Description of safety issue

It has been determined that certain Recalled Testers may experience premature failure of the interconnecting cable under cyclical bending stress. Recent experiments conducted by Fluke have shown a wide distribution in the number of cycles to failure exhibited by the Recalled Testers, meaning that certain Recalled Testers are subject to failure earlier than expected, leading to a useful life for certain of them that Fluke considers unacceptable.

Further, the cable may fail in an intermittent fashion where, depending on the cable flex orientation, it is possible for a Recalled Tester to pass a self check continuity test or validation on a known voltage source, while subsequent tests may display a false negative. The primary function of a T-Pole Tester is to detect the presence or absence of voltage to determine whether it is safe to touch an electrical installation and begin work.

A false negative may lead to electric shock or arc flash from subsequent user actions as a result of the false negative indication, which may lead to injury or even death. Because of this risk, please IMMEDIATELY STOP using your T-Pole Tester and follow the recall instructions below.

Our R&D, Quality, and Safety teams have qualified a new cable to be used in the T-Pole Testers, which makes them more robust. In addition, we have now implemented additional improvements to the strain relief complementing the cable strength. Testing of these new changes has shown improvements in cable cycle performance. As of Aug 28th, 2018, these improvements have been implemented into production of the T-Pole Tester product family.

Product replacement

Please IMMEDIATELY STOP using your Recalled Tester. Please contact Celemetrix in the list below to return your Recalled Tester, at no cost, for replacement. The new tester will have warranty coverage against failures for 3 years.

Probably the best overall industry course I've done in 20 years in the industry. Well run and well presented.

Anthony Gibson, CG Communications

The course was excellent and very well presented. Even after years of experience with OTDRs, I still learnt a thing or two. I would highly recommend and wish I could have sat this course at the start of my career. Kenny was one of the best trainers I've come across.

Brock Richens, NBN Co.

Excellent teacher. Attended similar courses before, this one 'brought it all together'. More usable in the workplace. Easier to understand, very thorough explanation.

Keith Masuwale, NBN Co.

Andrew, the trainer was very knowledgeable, easy to understand and was a great help when I needed help. Very good. Thanks.

Luke Von Wald, VisionStream

Thankyou to Matt & his team for bringing this unit to the west, I look forward to seeing you next year for a repeat of the excellent service received over the last few years.

Mal Fawcett, Optimal Fibre Service

Thanks again for the training, I didn’t expect I would get as much out of it as I did. Let me know when the next splicing course comes to Perth, I’ll book a few seats on it.

Michael O'Malley, Minelect Pty Ltd

Thanks for the great NBN & FTTP training session we had yesterday. It is extremely useful to receive information from someone directly involved in what’s going on.

Mike Ott, C-COR

With regards to our recent equipment calibrations, I would like to thank you and your team for your efficient service. The fact that you worked over the weekend to have our equipment available for Monday morning was really appreciated.
